HERKEIOS

About Herkeios

The name comes from Zeus Herkeios — an epithet for Zeus as protector of the boundary, watching over the edge of the property, the household, the enclosure. That's the idea the company is built around: knowing what's crossing your boundary, in time to do something about it.

What we've built is a platform, not a single product: it connects to any sensor type and uses edge and agentic AI to detect a problem in order to defend a boundary. Today that means counter-drone detection for critical infrastructure and commercial security — but the same concept holds wherever a boundary needs watching, in health, science, nature, and beyond. Drone detection is where we're focused first, not where the idea ends.

Drones are cheap, fast, and increasingly hard to keep out of places they don't belong. Herkeios was built around a simple idea for this first application: a detection system that misses a real threat has failed at its one job — so every design decision starts from “maximum opportunity to detect,” not from minimizing false alarms at the cost of missed drones.

That philosophy shapes the whole system. Sensors are fused so a strong signal from one is never diluted by silence from another — and we deliberately don't sell the sensors ourselves. Most sites already have some detection hardware, or have their own reasons to choose it; Herkeios's job is turning whatever you have into one confident, real-time picture. Detection runs entirely on-site, because a system that depends on a network connection to work isn't reliable enough for something protecting real property. And every tracked object gets logged — not just the ones that trigger an alarm — because the threats worth catching aren't always the loud ones.

Herkeios is based in Greystones, Co. Wicklow, Ireland, and has been supported from an early stage by Local Enterprise Office Wicklow.

Herkeios also provides technology consulting services, including Agile delivery and programme management, alongside its core product development work.

And detection is where our responsibility ends. Herkeios turns what's in your airspace into real-time, actionable intelligence — it doesn't act on a drone directly. In the EU, mitigation is restricted to authorized state actors by law; what your organization decides to do with a confirmed detection is your call, not ours.
